Italy is the country with the most world heritage sites selected by UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, as part of the world heritage Program. These sites are to be protected and preserved forever. Italy is a unique place thanks to the number of beautiful natural sights and man-made masterpieces of painting, sculpture, architecture and applied arts.
For centuries the history of Italian Art has been a source of inspiration to artists, amateurs and lovers of Beauty and to visitors from all over the world for reasons of study, culture or simply tourism.
The Accademia di Italiano has developed Italian for Art courses designed for people who attend or have enrolled in Fine Arts Academies (like Milan's Brera Academy of Fine Arts), where the classes are mostly if not solely taught in Italian. They are also designed for those who have a personal or professional interest in Art. The aim of these courses is to help them gain the necessary vocabulary and terminology used in the Art world, along with insight into Italian Art history.
In addition to eventual topics of specific interest for student, the course themes deal with history of Italian Art from the classical through the Renaissance to the Contemporary Periods, famous artists and their masterpieces and Art movements. All this is supported by visits to museums and sites of artistic and historical interest.
The course concentrates on the study of the Italian language: the programme is the same as the Standard Italian Course (20 lessons per week) combined with 10 individual lessons per week. At the same time, it focuses on tailor-made lessons created to meet the language needs of students and professionals of Italian Art.
